Is social networking sites really making friends out of strangers or strangers out of friends?
I have been thinking deep about what social sites are made for considering that I get cursed and bullied within my own account. For the past few days I have been taking notes with the advantages of social sites, some of the facts I have gathered are the following:
§ You allow a perfect stranger to completely evaluate your character by reading your wall posts.
§ Social sites are commonly used to asses a person even in a professional setting since it can easily be accessed through the internet and it pops first in search engines.
§ Social sites make people more interested in getting hooked to the internet.
§ People no longer send a simple text message on your birthday but places their greeting on your wall because the sites never fail to provide them with reminders of your special day. This bring you both closer and close together. you and social networking
§ Most relationships, and not just romantic relationships, gets more complicated and sometimes come to an end because of the unreasonable battle over password issues and wall post jealousies.
Other times, I use it as a platform to meet new people and experience the digital world.
I can’t help but notice how social networking has evolved over a couple of years. But it’s really alarming that my brother no longer play the local games I have come to love when I was a kid because he exaggeratedly prefer online dating and console gaming that is available in most social sites rather than physically engaging to it. What is even more alarming are getting some of my own personal friends become social addicts that they forget the main objective why social sites are created. I can even be more alarmed that seeing how people forget their values and post unethical phrases just to get a minute of attention not even taking considerations how their values are deteriorate a notch lower and making them look like low grade bacteria found in animal manure.
I, myself has an account from one of the most famous social networking site available but that is to only keep up with the progressive demand of my peers. For the record, social sites are made as a subject of your motive. So let’s all be careful and remember what principles and ethics our parents and teachers have taught us. Let’s be more educated and keen so that these tools created and developed by technology and innovation can be a door for another dimension of learning and understanding. Remember, your teachers as well as your family members and relatives are part of your friends in your profile.
So let’s all be an example and create a safe and secure environment for our loved ones.
